Corporatism, profit squeeze and investment

Article Abstract:

Corporatist countries are characterized by high economic growth, high employment rates, high inflation rates and low GNP growth. The government and workers' organizations collaborate to set wages which in turn influences growth in real investments and profit share. Corporate investments, economic development, employment, and profit share were studied in 19 corporatist economies of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development. The corporatism of the countries studied varied from pluralistic, weak, medium and strong. Research results reveal that corporatist policies promote stability in growth and investment as well as in the labor market.
