Determinants of net new money flows to the equity mutual fund industry

Article Abstract:

Explanatory power in composite money effusion from and to the equity mutual fund increases when an individual fund focus is replaced with a concentrated industry-wide focus. This result has been achieved using a multivariate specification rather than univariate models used in earlier studies. It has been observed that there is a negative relationship between new money flows and long-term interest rates. However, personal disposable income and the performance in the stock market are positively correlated to new money flows.
