Executive compensation: six questions that need answering

Article Abstract:

An analysis of US executive compensation practices must consider a number of key questions. These include how effective executive compensation is, the cost to the company of executive compensation, whether executive compensation could be improved and what the impact of executive compensation is. It is clear that the issue of the cost to the company of executive compensation is not the same as the issue of how much executive compensation is worth to the recipient. The business press will contain both criticism and praise of executive compensation, regardless of the trends in this area.

The wage differential between nonprofit institutions and corporations: getting more by paying less?

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the nonprofit institution practice of paying managers less than for-profit institutions reveals that the practice is adopted to generate positive self-selection among its staff. The practice of self selection is needed because non-profits are not subject to the accounting procedures usually employed by for-profits and that lower wages may be offset partially by higher fringe benefits.
