Firm Size Distribution in Small Samples

Article Abstract:

The authors investigate a proposed theoretical lower bound to company size inequality when a given market is composed of several independent submarkets. This is tested in small samples, using Italy's automotive insurance industry as an example; a positive relationship between company size inequality and number of submarkets is found.

Explaining ethnic unemployment and activity rates: evidence from the QLFS in the 1990s and 2000s

Article Abstract:

Data from the United Kingdom Quarterly Labour Force Survey are used to explore economic activity and shifts in ethnic unemployment. While employment has improved for ethnic minorities, the findings explain only half the difference between ethnic and white unemployment, suggesting that a discriminatory element continues to exist.

Research indicates that attending a Catholic high school improves a student's likelihood to enroll at a university, but has no relationship to dropout rates.
