Gender differences in recruitment outcomes

Article Abstract:

Gender differences in employee recruitment were investigated using data and statistical models. A dataset based on a survey of the recruiting practices of Dutch firms was utilized to test whether female candidates have lower chances of being hired than their male counterparts. Results showed that male and female applicants have almost the same probability of being hired regardless of the type of job vacancy. The probability of hiring a candidate of either sex is determined by the gender composition of the pool of applicants.

European time-series relationships between inflation and inflation uncertainty: in search of threshold levels

Article Abstract:

The relationship between inflation and inflation uncertainty is examined using cross-country and time-series analysis. Threshold level is analyzed using Ball's theory. Inflation data from Italy, France, Germany, and United Kingdom reveal the existence of time-series threshold levels ranging from 0.8% to 1.9% annually. Furthermore, cross country analysis show that total inflation average approximates threshold levels in months where short-term inflation affects inflation uncertainty.
