Article Abstract:

The European fiber industry is experiencing an upturn. One or two major producers remain in each area and plants have been cut. Sales of synthetic fibers grew by four per cent in 1983. Several new fibers, such as a cotton lookalike, have been introduced. Research and development is very costly.

Better than the Old Bill

Article Abstract:

Britain's proposed Police and Criminal Evidence Bill is reviewed. Two controversial areas are stop and search powers and detainment periods. Otherwise the bill is an improvement over former proposals.
