How desirable is the South Asian Free Trade Area? A quantitative economic assessment

Article Abstract:

The article examines advantages and disadvantages posed by the South Asian Free Trade Area, and concludes that its preferential liberalization format would produce fewer gains for South Asia's smaller countries than those that might be realized under a unilateral liberalization format.

Offshore Financial Centres in the Caribbean: Prospects in a New Environment

The article examines the costs and benefits of establishing offshore financial centers in the Caribbean. Benefits include increases in employment and income, but costs of compliance can be high, due to international concerns regarding terrorist financing and money laundering.
