Article Abstract:

A cake-eating model with a non-renewable resource and a backstop technology is developed to describe the intertemporal effect of a sudden increase of the population level, e.g. due to migration. The migrants enter an economy in which there is already surplus labor, and they receive transfer from the natives.

Dynamics of a household norm in female labour supply

Article Abstract:

A continuous variant of the theory of social custom, of Akerlof, is developed to model the effect of a traditional household norm on married women's labour supply. Individual and collective dynamics of the female norm beliefs and labour supplies are derived from this theory.

Implications for minimum-wage policies of an S-shaped labor-supply curve

Article Abstract:

The model of family labor supply mainly emphasizes the impact of minimum wages on the distribution of income and poverty. It shows that increasing minimum wages may resorb excess labor supply and yank market out of any potential Malthusian poverty trap.
