Incentives in organizations

Article Abstract:

Agency theory can play a valuable role in an analysis of incentives in organizations. Work in this area has traditionally focused on the tradeoff between insurance and incentives. However, latest research on incentives in organizations has gone further than this. Risk is now seen as only one of a considerable number of issues. It has also been possible to assess why companies get what they pay for and how companies establish incentives for skill acquisition rather than merely for effort.
