Article Abstract:

The Japanese economy has seen growth forecasts revised upwards for 2000 due to rises in exports and spending on public works. The additional day for the leap year is not taken into account in Japanese statistics, so growth may appear higher in 1st qtr 2000 and lower in 2nd qtr as a result of this.
