Johnson County Community College, Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad form unique partnership

Article Abstract:

The Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS forged a unique partnership with Burlington Northern Santa Fe, housing the railroad's training center which also acts as the stimulator for local economic development. The training facility was constructed at the behest of the Overland Park city government, which issued a $2.9 mil revenue bond for the construction of a 52,000-sq ft facility on the Johnson Community College compound. The construction of the training facility enabled the Johnson Community College to develop a new revenue stream and expand its education services in the private sector.
