Labour migration and labour market integration in Asia

Article Abstract:

Labor migration and integration in Asia exists in varying degrees, and most Asian nations implement different types of labor movement restrictions despite the beneficial effects they bring to their economies. Labor migration and integration in Asia have resulted in increased economic competitiveness and efficiency brought about by a high degree of labor market flexibility. The increasing labor mobility among Asian countries has also helped maintain their comparative advantage in labor-intensive manufacturing and nurturing further their labor-market flexibility.
