Derivative of the hyperbolic cotangent

Article Abstract:

An additional term proportional to the Dirac delta function is presented as part of the derivative of the hyperbolic cotangent. The significance of this new result is illustrated in a physical problem, where a quantum particle coupled to a quantum-mechanical heat bath is analyzed. Using the conventional result which lacks the delta function would derive zero, but use of the correct formula leads to the white-noise result.
