A model of auction contracts with liquidated damages

Article Abstract:

An auction model is developed where a winning bidder is given the privilege of cancelling the transaction and compensate the seller for damages. The winning bidder pays damages or loses a deposit upon the default on the auction contract. Increased deposit does not affect the payoff when renegotiation is possible except where the seller has some bargaining power and has information concerning the winning bidder.

Is the war over?

Article Abstract:

The toll of the Gulf War still rises, mostly on children, now suffering from previously uncommon diseases. The International Study Team shows that infant mortality rates have risen and UN sanctions imposed on Iraq has helped cripple its pre-Gulf War social systems leading to more suffering for Iraqis.
