Objective factors of corruption in the exercise of the regulatory and supervisory powers by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation

Article Abstract:

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation enjoys a legal independence that puts it beyond the control and jurisdiction of the federal government agencies, and follows a legally enforced mode of conduct whereby it bears no liability to the public for the results of its regulatory activity. The legal and institutional shortcomings of the Bank are discussed, together with several suggestions on restricting factors of corruption in the Russian banking and currency regulation system.
