Oil equipment and services: $7.1 billion Kuwaiti market

Article Abstract:

Sales to Kuwait of oil field and refinery equipment are valued at $7.1 billion through 1995. Reconstruction and expansion will be worth for more than $8.5 billion through 1997. The Kuwait National Petroleum Co, Kuwait Oil Co and Petrochemical Industries Corp all have major reconstruction or expansion jobs under way. These projects will be drilling 300 new wells, repair of 26 gathering centers, repairing the Mina Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries and laying up to 3,500 km of new pipe. US suppliers should benefit from equipment orders for most of this work.

Ministerial resolution on customs and tax objections

Article Abstract:

Ministerial Resolution No. 1413 on customs and tax objections was issued by Saudi Arabia's Acting Minister of Finance and National Economy. The resolution includes provisions that the Appeals Committee formed to look into Customs and tax objections under Ministerial Resolution No. 3/441 be confined solely to Customs objections, and requirements for an Appeals Committee to be formed to look into tax and Zakat objections.

Application of WTO customs valuation agreement raises Kuwaiti importers' concerns

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to the customs valuation system applied in Kuwait under the World Trade Organisation are discussed. Local importers fear that the system will damage local trading and will be mishandled by its administrative personnel. The intended aim of the process is to establish a contemporary customs regime complying with recognised regulations.
