Price movements, April 1992

Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose in April, 0.4% for all urban consumers (CPI-U) and 0.3% for urban wage earners and clerical workers (CPI-W). CPI-U went to 139.5 without seasonal adjustment, a 3.2% gain over the past 12 months. CPI-W went to 137.3 without seasonal adjustment, a 3% gain over the past 12 months. The smallest change over 12 months was for energy, with no change in CPI-U and a decline of 0.1% in CPI-W. The largest change over 12 months was in medical costs, with an increase of 7.9% in both CPIs.

Both consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose in Feb 1992, 0.4% for all urban consumers (CPI-U) and 0.3% for urban wage earners and clerical workers (CPI-W). CPI-U went to 138.6 without seasonal adjustment, a 2.8% increase from the past 12 months. CPI-W went to 136.4 without seasonal adjustment, a 2.7% increase from the past 12 months. The lowest changes were for energy, declining 3.7% in CPI-U and 3.9% in CPI-W. The largest gains were for medical costs, increasing 7.9% in both CPIs.

CPI-U was 139.7 without seasonal adjustment, a 3% increase over the past 12 months. CPI-W was 137.6 without seasonal adjustment, a 2.8% increase over the past 12 months. Smallest gains over 12 months were for energy, 0.1% in both CPIs. Largest gains over 12 months were for medical costs, 7.7% in CPI-U and 7.8% in CPI-W.
