Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes increased 0.1% in Aug 1998, before seasonal adjustment. After seasonal adjustment, the increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was 0.2%, and the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) was 0.1%. Over the past 12 months, the CPI-U has risen 1.6% and the CPI-W 1.4%.

Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes rose 0.1% in July 1998 before seasonal adjustment. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) has increased 1.7% over the past year, and the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) has risen 1.5%. After seasonal adjustment, both the CPI-U and the CPI-W increased 0.2% for the month.
