Price movements, January 1999

Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes registered an increase of 0.2% for the month of January 1999. Over the past 12 months, there was an increase of 1.7% in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) and an increase of 1.6% in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). After seasonal adjustment, the increase was 0.1 for the CPI-U and 0.2% for the CPI-W.

Article Abstract:

Both Consumer Price Indexes increased 0.1% in Feb 1999, before seasonal adjustment. Both indexes have also increased by 1.6% during the 12-month period ending in February. After seasonal adjustment, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.1% for the month and the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) showed no change.
