The seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.3% in November, the same for the 2 previous months. The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) increased by 0.3% before seasonal adjustment in November. The index for housing and transportation both increased by 0.2% in November and the index for apparel rose 0.5%. Medical care costs increased by 0.3% in November and charges for hospital and related services increased 0.3%.

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) showed no change for Nov 1998 prior to seasonal adjustment and an increase of 0.2% after seasonal adjustment. The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) increased by 0.1% before and after seasonal adjustment. For the 12-month period that ended in November, there was a 1.5% rise in the CPI-U and a 1.4% rise in the CPI-W.
