Article Abstract:

The September Consumer Price Index (CPI) for All Urban Consumers rose O.3 % from a 0.1 % increase in August. The food index increased 0.5% with marked increases in indexes for meats, poultry, fish, dairy products and eggs. The energy index remained the same in September following a 3.2 % decline between June and August. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers in September rose 0.3% without seasonal adjustments.

Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes had an increase of 0.1% in September 1998, before seasonal adjustment. For the 12-month period that ended in Sept there was a 1.5% rise in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) and a 1.2% rise in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). After seasonal adjustment, the CPI-U was unchanged for the month of Sept, and the CPI-W increased 0.1%.

Article Abstract:

An increase of 0.2% occurred in both consumer price indexes (CPIs) for Oct 1998, prior to seasonal adjustment. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), at a level of 164.0, has risen by 1.5% since October 1997, while the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W), has increased by 1.3% over the prior 12 months, to a level of 160.6.
