Richard M. Goodwin: 1913-1996

Article Abstract:

The early works of economist Richard M. Goodwin was influenced by his mentors at Harvard, notable among them is Lauchlin Currie and Harrod, whose flawed insights into the workings of economic growth in his 'Trade Cycle' publication motivated Goodwin to follow up on oscillations as the basis for economic growth. Goodwin's quest for the explanation of economic growth even had him turning to the biological sciences for inspiration, as evidenced by his reliance on the Lotka-Voltarre model used extensively to model predation.
