Factors affecting the market include seasonal conditions, fashion and fibre technology. Tights made up the largest market share in 1996, at 82%. Sheer plain tights are the market sector leaders, making up 84% of the market in 1996. Hosiery sales are predicted to rise to 450 million pounds sterling by the year 2001, with fashion being the main influencing factor.
