Make-up

Article Abstract:

The UK make-up market has been boosted by the fashion trend since 1994 towards a more glamorous image: this follows a long period in the early 1990s when sales were depressed by the trend towards a 'natural' look. This revival helped lift sales to 531 million pounds sterling in 1995, up 14% at current prices vs 1991. However, in real terms the market fell by 3% in 1991-95. The market is being affected by the falling number of teenagers, but manufacturers are now targeting the pre-teens and also the growing number of women aged 45-54.

Shaving products

Article Abstract:

The UK shaving product market is predicted to rise in value from 342 million pounds sterling in 1999 to 416 million pounds sterling by 2003. Developments in the field of products for sensitive skins will increase the shaving preparations market from 72 million pounds sterling in 1999 to 89 million pounds sterling in 2003. Manufacturers will also target younger consumers to encourage them to try electric shaving instead of the traditional wet shave.
