Spillovers, investment incentives and the property rights theory of the firm

Article Abstract:

A study examining the manager's relationship-specific investment that can be partially collected back by the owner, even if the firm fails is presented. The study examines the impact of such investment on the investments of non owners. According to property rights theory, non-owners may end up holding devalued investments. However, this investment is rarely fully lost.
