Sprayed to death: path dependence, lock-in and pest control strategies

Article Abstract:

Integrated pest management (IPM) has failed to gain ground against chemical pest control products because of lack of farm-level learning and coordination, low payoffs for users and concept immaturity. These problems can be remedied by developing extension services to increase IPM awareness among farmers, promoting IPM implementation on a regionwide basis instead of individual farmers to reduce costs. Moreover, lenders and insurers should be educated about the concept's viability to increase farm credits.

Decision making processes under uncertainty: an econometric analysis

Article Abstract:

Panel data gathered from rural India on a daily rated labor market has been used to analyze how workers handle uncertainty due to involuntary unemployment. The Expected Utility Model (EUM) with linear and nonlinear objective probabilities is estimated as well as EUM with linear and nonlinear subjective probabilities. Empirical analysis shows that people deal with subjective probabilities based on their past experiences.

Goodwill, Intertemporal Price Dependence and the Repurchase Decision

Article Abstract:

Previous theories correlating price and goodwill are simplified. The model gauges the effect of goodwill and price dependence on the repurchase decision. Generalization of the model is obtained through the use of many goods, an indirect utility function, and a time dimension. The model provides an optimal stopping problem with reservation prices. A positive dependence on price is observed.
