Taking AA Insurance from recovery to sustainable growth

Article Abstract:

AA Insurance, a conventional broker that sells motor and home insurance, was able to stall its decline brought about by new technology and dynamic customer expectations by effectively addressing the firm's organizational and individual dynamics. The company realized that it was imperative to considerably slash its current cost base in order to revive the business. AA Insurance's experience underscores the need for all organizational changes to be viewed from the perspective of individuals.

Creating the sustainable enterprise-staying competitive and staying alive

Discussions during the 1995 Strategic Planning Society conference focused on the changing business environment. London Economics and London Business School Professor John Kay defined the two types of enterprise, namely, the perennial and the annual. IBM (UK) Chmn. Nick Temple talked about the forces that drive sustainability demands while Lord Griffiths of Goldman Sachs International talked about 'shared values' as key operational ratios.
