The distribution of income: evidence, theories and policy

Article Abstract:

An analysis of economist Jan Tinbergen's theories on income distribution showed that inequality increased in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries although no definite pattern was observed for the rates of increase. It is also argued that Tinbergen's supply and demand model of the race between technological development and education imply the existence of factors that could explain the difference between wage differentials and wage inequality.

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to explore and analyze the concept of knowledge and its application in economics through the use of the Schumpeterian framework. The research concentrated mainly on the specific role of knowledge spillovers in a small open economy of the Netherlands. Results indicated that European institutional development and learning should imbibe foreign research and development efforts for them to discover economies of scope and scale.

The sources of industrial leadership: a perspective on industrial policy

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the evolution of major high-technology industries and to determine key variables that promote the emergence of industrial leadership. Dynamic theories on how technological advances influence the locus of industrial leadership were examined. Results indicated that the effects of industrial policies on firms in an industry is determined by the unpredictable actions that companies take.
