The economics of development: a review article

Article Abstract:

The discipline of development economics in the mid-twentieth century was conditioned by the inter-war period and developments in older industrialized countries, particularly in the case of the UK. Industrial and agricultural development served as the foundation of economic policy formation. However, substantial benefits from a shift to export promotion and growing international trade changed economic development programs in the mid-1960s.

Intra-industry trade: an Australian panel study

Article Abstract:

Australian intra-industry trade (IIT) has been increasing as a balance of total trade since 1983. The empirical evidence derived proposes that average and relative per capital incomes, distance and trade orientation all serve an important role in accounting for the trends of IIT for Australia. A differentiation is erected between Australia's established trading allies and newly developing trading allies in the Asia Pacific region.

Financial intermediation and economic growth in developing countries

Article Abstract:

Financial intermediation wields a favorable impact on economic development in developing countries. Both of the two postulated avenues of the consequences of financial intermediation play a significant role in developing nations. Financial depth, stated as the proportion of financial aggregates to gross domestic product, fosters economic progress in only low-income developing nations, while having no bearing on high-income ones.
