The effect of macroeconomic variables on economic growth rates: a cross-country study

Article Abstract:

The influence of macroeconomic variables on the economic development of 67 countries between 1960-87 was investigated. The results proved that low variability of output growth and increased foreign trade lead to high rates of economic growth. Likewise, it failed to provide proof concerning the belief that countries with high inflation, large budget deficits and government expenditures have low rates of economic growth.

Employment determination in macroeconomic models: some empirical evidence

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate a new method for determining employment specifications. The method applies error term distribution and presents the real wage coefficient in a reduced equation form. Test results show that the US labor market employed workers on the basis of a fixed wage rate from 1948-1984. In addition, the real wage rate exhibits flexibility in position relative to the equilibrium real wage.

Macroeconomic conditions, class mobility, and inequality

Article Abstract:

Macroeconomic conditions such as public policies and institutional development affect benefits distribution. This effect is felt in variations of the economic growth rate, class mobility and inequality in wealth. The inequality level can not singularly solved by an improved class mobility. Changes must be integrated with public policies and other macroeconomic factors to improve overall economic conditions.
