The globalisation and liberalisation of Asian labour markets

Article Abstract:

The globalization of Asian labor markets has been studied focusing on the role played by nation-states. Findings reveal Asian nation-states continue to exert a regulatory force on labor markets to restrict the entry of illegal alines which can only aggravate unemployment. This is done to ensure that national workforces have 100% access to domestic employment opportunities. This regulatory force is strengthened by inter-state cooperation agreements for the orderly management and repatriation of international labor.

Passing through regionalism: the transition to global markets

Article Abstract:

Political and economic forces play important roles in the creation of international agreements on trade liberalization. The North American Free Trade Agreement, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and the European Union have been developed due to political factors, such as the US' strict imposition of import controls. The agreements, however, are also viewed by some countries as the key for new market opportunities.

What might globalisation's critics believe?

Article Abstract:

What exactly are the complaints of anti-globalists and what is the world view that underlay their criticisms, is analyzed. The practicality of their criticisms within the traditional neoclassical, neoliberal model of a perfectly competitive world economy are also examined.
