The interplay between micro-frontier and sectoral short-run production functions

Article Abstract:

An analysis of Finland's brewery industry for the period 1955-1984 shows the workings and interaction between short-run production determinants and the long-run micro-frontier function. The latter embodies the changes wrought by technical advancements. The results show that both short-run and long-run functions can differ from each other, notably in the temporal aspect. However, there exists the dynamic relationship wherein each function can coexist positively.

Productivity and the embodiment of technical progress

Article Abstract:

The embodiment hypothesis is analyzed. The analysis focuses on the relationship between technical change and productivity. The quality of inputs entered into production influences both factors. The analysis also explains the nature of the hypothesis, a vintage model of capital and embodiment in other inputs, application of the hypothesis to productivity trends and its past and future applications.
