The market for franchise opportunities

Article Abstract:

Aggregate demand and supply models are developed to study the market for franchised opportunities. It is shown that the models agree with the hypothesis that royalties and fees are structured to respond to the risk aversion and uncertainty over the post-contractual opportunistic behavior of parties involved. It is also observed that increased franchisor brand-name capital increases the demand for franchise opportunities while franchisors have enough leverage to choose contract terms.

Vertebrate taste-bud development: are salamanders the model

Article Abstract:

The dependence of the development of taste-buds on innervation is put to the test using a salamander model. In the experiments conducted by Linda A. Barlow and R. Gless Northcutt, they extrapolated the independence of amphibian taste-bud development on innervation to the development of mammalian taste buds. Studies using postnatal rodents have shown that vallate taste buds fail to develop after denervation. The reply of Linda A. Barlow and R. Gless Northcutt is presented.
