Inspiring spireas

Article Abstract:

Spireas offer gardeners color, variety, and hardiness and come in a delightful range of mutable species and hybrids. Most come from Asia, though some have been in the Old World for centuries. S prunifolia is perhaps the best-known, and is widely overused, as are some of the other spirea in some parts of the country. S japonica is perhaps the most prolific in terms of offspring and new cultivars, including Shibori, Alpina, Norman, and Little Princess.
