The world demand for UK tobacco

Article Abstract:

The effects of price and income on the demand for UK cigarettes in newly industrializing, oil exporting and less developed countries are investigated. The difference in income elasticities between the three country groups is also examined. The findings suggest that rising incomes in the first two groups boost demand for British tobacco products. The less developed countries, though, are still a fertile market for such products.
