Workforce development: Oklahoma knowledge works

Article Abstract:

The Oklahoma Knowledge Works Inc workforce development initiative of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, is a public-private partnership aimed at making the Oklahoma City labor force competitive in the industry. The program is composed of seven initiatives and is driven by a five year, $10 mil funding that aims to address potential workforce problems, especially in terms of supply. Critical to the success of the program is the networking, which enables the assessment of industry needs and make corresponding adjustments to the initiatives.

The National Main Street Center

Article Abstract:

The National Trust for Historic Preservation established the National Main Street Center (NMSC) in 1980 to help revitalize communities. Since then, the NMSC has become one of the most successful economic development plans with ongoing programs in over 1,100 cities and towns. Its success is attributed to its four-step development strategy involving design, organization, promotion and economic restructuring.
