An overview of the agenda of "The Politics of Human Remains and Museum Practice: Ethics, Research, Policy and Display" international symposium that is to take place in Docklands, London, UK, on 30-31 October 2004. The symposium, organised by the Museum of London, will bring together experts from Europe, America, South Africa and Australia to discuss issues such as the position of the Church towards the academic study of human remains, public opinion and science and attitudes towards war graves.

Advice for university researchers on how to co-ordinate the efforts of large research efforts made up of multiple research teams, often spread across a number of institutions and even across a number of countries. Tips include working out how the project will be managed and getting a good support staff involved, making sure that everybody knows what the project is about and their part in it, and not doing anything that the budget doesn't cover.

An appreciation of the role played by lab staff and university technicians in helping taking the ideas and concepts put forward by academics and making them solid and demonstrable. It is contended that with university technicians, the atom would never have been split and the human genome would never have been sequenced.
