Just one more dash for freedom

Article Abstract:

Human rights in Saudi Arabia are examined in the light of the arrest and detention of three academics in the country for the crime of calling for political and social reform. Sir James Craig, British ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1979 to 1984, notes that the current Saudi government is being pulled in two directions. On the one hand it does not want to make concessions to the country's Islamic extremists, but on the other hand it realises that too proceed to quickly with reform would cause confrontations in the country.

'We have our eye on you... so watch out'

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the impact of websites such as Campus Watch and Israel Academic Monitor, both of which attack academics who are critical of Israel or the Israeli Government and its policies, on the academic community. While sites such as Campus Watch argue that they seek to maintain balance in academia, many argue that they undermine academic integrity and are simply trying to stifle debate about an important issue.
