Chronicler of deaths foretold

Article Abstract:

Wiener Library Director David Cesarani has a chair on Jewish History at Southampton University, England, and is a leading writer on Jewish history. He is very keen to move away from the traditional stereotypical idea of the Jewish people and he points out that Jewish history includes more than the holocaust. He suggests that Anglo-Jewish people want to be a unified group because they fear anti-semitic behaviour by the British. Cesarani suggests that Jewish culture in Europe was destroyed by the holocaust. The Wiener Library contains a collection of material dealing with the holocaust.

Whig heir shows liberal roots

Article Abstract:

Historian and hereditary member of the House of Lords, Conrad Russell, opposes the New Labour party vehemently, in particular its economic and social policies. Russell claims that the Upper House continues to have an important role in politics today, providing input which often reflects public opinion because its members inherit rather than being elected. Russell's Liberal Democrat stance dates from 1974 and Jeremy Thorpe.
