Civil service's loss becomes lake's gain

Article Abstract:

The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) in Chatham, England, has been part of the University of Greenwich since May 1996, but its origins date back to 1894 and it established its worldwide reputation while part of the civil service. The NRI is leading the Lake Tanganyika biodiversity project, a five-year initiative involving institutions from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania and Zambia, the countries surrounding the lake. The project is housed in the NRI's new natural resources management department which follows a multi-disciplinary approach.
