Article Abstract:

The present technological age induced the Belgrade Middle School in Belgrade, MT to integrate technology education courses into their curriculum. Believing that technological knowledge is important in achieving economic growth, the school created a curriculum that would educate fifth to eighth grade students in technology with emphasis on computer application in all classes. The curriculum mainly focused on communication, construction, manufacturing and transportation. The program's success with the students and parents has made it a model for other Montana technology programs.

The missing link

Article Abstract:

Tech prep administrators at New York City Technical College have realised that training high school students did not necessarily ensure their commitment to education at the college level. The administrators are now concentrating their energies in re-designing their program to include courses with dual high school and tech prep credits. They have introduced a non-binding contract for students who are interested in undertaking tech prep. Their orientation courses for the tech prep students at the junior and senior levels have paid off and the number of enrollees has doubled.
