Digging up dirt and DNA

Article Abstract:

British Archaeological scientist Martin Jones, the author of "The Molecule Hunt," believes that Svante Plaabo's discovery of DNA in an ancient Egyptian mummy changed not only his own career, but also modern archaeology. Jones's study of ancient plant material and Paabo's DNA research are helping to uncover a new view of human history.

Issues concerning the nature and funding of modern art are discussed, with focus on the role played by the Tate Galley in representing the diversity and the inventiveness of modern art. The history and the cultural position of the Tate Gallery in the art world are discussed.
