He who reigns in Spain

Article Abstract:

British historian Paul Preston is widely-acclaimed in Spain for his publications, including a biography of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, and is well-respected for his political and historical views. He remains keenly interested in the subject of the Spanish civil war, and is also working on a biography of Benito Mussolini. Preston believes the Spanish are continuously seeking to rediscover their history after Franco's regime sought to portray the losers as worthless. His book 'Conrades!' won the 1998 Asi Fue literary prize.
