Article Abstract:

Robert Plomin, deputy director of the Research Centre on Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry in south London, England, believes that genetic influence accounts for 50% of individual differences in intelligence. Plomin, a professor in behavioural genetics, believes that genes associated with differences in individual intelligence will be identified within the next year or two. However he points out that not only do multiple genes contribute to individual intelligence, but that environmental and other factors are just as important.
