It's the way he tells them

Article Abstract:

A survey of eminent theologians revealed a range of views about the biblical account of the Nativity. Although orthodox theologians accept that the Virgin Mary conceived Jesus without human intervention, the more liberal see Luke's account of the Christmas story as a beautiful literary myth. Jesus College, Cambridge, lecturer in modern theology Janet Martin Soskice maintains that Luke intended his account of the Nativity to be read as a symbolic narrative. Dean of Peterhouse, Cambridge, Graham Ward argues that Luke made no distinction between poetic and historical reality.
