Journals study raps snobbery

Article Abstract:

It is better that an academic paper is among the best in a medium-ranking journal than one of the weakest in a world-leading title, according to a study by Andrew Oswald, professor of economics at Warwick University. A study of six journals over the last 25 years shows that academics published in the least prestigious journals were often cited more by other academics than those published in the most prestigious journals.
