Article Abstract:

Many universities and colleges in the United Kingdom embark on international education strategies without understanding the real costs and benefits to the higher education system. Many educational establishments are experiencing financial pressures which may not warrant the extra expense that is incurred through international student exchange.

How to tame the market without stunting growth

Article Abstract:

An examination of the private university sector and the services that private universities offer. It is argued that private universities are a valuable asset to any country, so long as they are regulated appropriately. It is suggested that, in the short term at least, the best way to regulate private universities could be with performance indices that are published by the media, thereby ensuring that institutions maintain standards or risk having their reputation damaged in the public arena.
