Lambert calls for UKPd200m to aid industry research

Article Abstract:

Richard Lambert, in a review of university-business collaboration in the UK produced fro the Treasury, states that the government should invest up to an additional UKPd200 mil in university research because the funding system is currently concentrating too much money on a small elite group, thereby threatening the viability of entire research departments. Chancellor Gordon Brown has welcomed the report, a move that is seen as a boost for calls from the universities for additional public investment in 2004's comprehensive spending review.
