Article Abstract:

The general secretary of lecturers' union Natfhe argues that universities in the UK and those that fund them need to engage in some radical thinking in order to boost the pay of academics. It is suggested that unless the wages of academic staff are not improved significantly then serious steps could be taken.

Exam action to hit distance learners in 130 countries

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine may have to postpone tests for 1,600 students due to the AUT boycott. The institution has missed deadlines for completing examination papers because academic staff have refused to set questions.
