The career connection

Article Abstract:

Putnam City Schools, Oklahoma, develop study plans for students on the basis of their interest rather than aptitude. The students' families attend individual counseling sessions to discuss the students' career interests. The schools are part of a school-to-work consortium where member institutions assist in the students' career planning. The curriculum is divided into six career clusters. A design and implementation team helps to identify the implementation goals within each cluster. A commitment from the member institutions' leaders is mandatory for ensuring the program's success.
